Baseball Recap: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Pershing County Mustangs

On Friday, the Dayton Dust Devils made easy work of the Pershing County Mustangs and carried off a 10-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dust Devils.

Duke Evans made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Dayton let Jordan Kennedy and Dallan Cowee run wild. Kennedy scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Cowee went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. What's more, Kennedy posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Frank, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Dayton now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pershing County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dayton will face off against Hug at 10:00 a.m. on March 8th. As for Pershing County, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Yerington at 10:00 a.m.
