Baseball Recap: Christian Takes a Loss

Christian has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mira Mesa Marauders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday.

Chase Togerson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Braeden Casey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Mira Mesa, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe University City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 4, the Centurions 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mira Mesa will take on rival Coronado at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
