Basketball Recap: Western Plains Drops Highest Score of Season Against Chase

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Plains). They blew past the Chase Kats 68-23 on Friday. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bobcats had established a 37 point advantage.

Western Plains' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madelyn Kraus, who went 8-for-17 en route to 21 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The game was Kraus' third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kalihan Flax, who went 9-for-19 to rack up 22 points.

Kraus wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Western Plains was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

The win (which was Western Plains' third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Chase, they are on a 41-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Western Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chase, they will take on Golden Plains at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
