Softball Recap: 11 Straight Road Victories for St. Mary's Ryken

St. Mary's Ryken had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bishop McNamara Mustangs as they made off with a 14-1 win. Considering the Knights have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emmaleigh Zagrodnichek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Zagrodnichek was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Mary's Ryken got a big performance out of Myla Harding, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. What's more, Harding posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Brooke Guy also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

St. Mary's Ryken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop McNamara only posted an OBP of .192.

Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop McNamara, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

St. Mary's Ryken didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 victory against The Academy of the Holy Cross on the 14th.
