Recap: Holly Springs vs. J.Z. George
After losing to J.Z. George the last time they met, Holly Springs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Holly Springs were the clear victor by a 36-6 margin over J.Z. George. Followers of Holly Springs probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected four blowout victories.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Holly Springs offense stepped up its game and put 14 points on the board in the second quarter. Meanwhile, J.Z. George couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 14-0 heading into the break. The Holly Springs defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest.
No one put up better numbers for Holly Springs than junior Kadarreon Lumpkin, who brought his A game into the match. He. Sophomore Dylan King was in the mix, too, providing Holly Springs with 2 touchdowns. The victory bumped their record up to 4-1. J.Z. George are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-5.
Holly Springs will look to defend their home turf next week against Tishomingo County at 7:00 PM. Holly Springs have bulldozed their previous four opponents, so Tishomingo County might have their hands full. As for J.Z. George, they will face off against East Webster.
