Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Academy Heroes vs. New Way Learning Academy Bulldogs

The Heritage Academy Heroes will square off against the New Way Learning Academy Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Heritage Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Ajo, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Heroes.

Maverik Ray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, David Mota was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Heritage Academy is 4-1 when Mota posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, New Way Learning Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-3 to Tri-City Christian Academy.

Cyrus Eaton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That run was his first of the season.

New Way Learning Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Heritage Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like New Way Learning Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Heritage Academy took their win against New Way Learning Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 19-0 score. Will the Heroes repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
