Softball Preview: LaGrange Gators vs. Oberlin Tigers
The LaGrange Gators will be playing at home against the Oberlin Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaGrange is out to stop a 14-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
LaGrange lost a close one when they played on Wednesday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 13-1 walloping at the hands of DeRidder.
Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Oberlin gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Basile 16-1. The victory was just what Oberlin needed coming off of a 17-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Megan Manuel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (she also only allowed one walk). Manuel has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive pitching appearances. Manuel was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Ashlyn Jefferson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Amber Manuel, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
