Baseball Game Preview: River Road Wildcats vs. Bushland Falcons

River Road is 0-10 against Bushland since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will square off against the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. River Road has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Road is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Tulia, falling 17-8. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly nine runs.

Zantiago Marrufo stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for River Road: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Anthoney Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Bushland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Dalhart by a score of 6-5.

Colton Reynolds was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Max Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Bushland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-10. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

River Road suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Bushland when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
