Volleyball Recap: Ashlyn Yount Key Part of Team Effort in Wildcats Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Homer-Center faced off against River Valley on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 win over the Panthers. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Homer-Center had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

Homer-Center got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlyn Yount out in front who had 41 assists and four aces. Yount is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Katie Fairbanks, who had eight aces and six digs.

The victory got Homer-Center back to even at 4-4. As for River Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Homer-Center will challenge West Shamokin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. River Valley has already played their next game (against Purchase Line), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
