Basketball Recap: Pleasant Ridge Falls Despite Big Games from Brady Mance and Wyatt Wilburn

Pleasant Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 60-43 fall against the Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy Ravens. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Ravens are ranked 131st).

Pleasant Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Wyatt Wilburn and Brady Mance. Wilburn went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points, while Mance posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. That's the most rebounds Mance has posted since back in February of 2024.

Pleasant Ridge's record now sits at 4-8. As for Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Ridge will head out to square off against McLouth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. As for Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Bishop Ward at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Bishop Ward likes a good challenge.
