Basketball Recap: Marlon Carson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead College Prep & Leadership Academy over Winston-Salem Prep

College Prep & Leadership Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-65 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Royals still had to take the loss.

College Prep & Leadership Academy lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Marlon Carson, who posted 12 points and five assists. What's more, Carson also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Bryce Mckenzie was another key player, putting up 14 points.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Winston-Salem Prep, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

College Prep & Leadership Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-48 victory against Leadership Academy on the 6th. As for Winston-Salem Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bishop McGuinness at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Winston-Salem Prep has won three straight at home, while Bishop McGuinness won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
