Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southwestern Randolph Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-55 on December 12th.

Trinity's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Walker Parrish, who posted 22 points. Parrish continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nazir Staton, who earned 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Southwestern Randolph, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.

Trinity will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Providence Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Southwestern Randolph, they will venture away from home to take on Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
