Basketball Recap: Gloucester City Takes a Loss

If Gloucester City was riding high fresh off their 70-23 takedown of Gateway Regional last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gloucester City Lions fell 55-45 to the Sterling Silver Knights on Thursday. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Silver Knights 14-10 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Gloucester City lost, don't look at Keegan Cohan. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jake Smith, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Gloucester City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Sterling, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Gloucester City and Gloucester County Tech will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Sterling, they will venture away from home to square off against Hightstown at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
