Basketball Game Preview: Forbush Falcons vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Forbush Falcons face off against the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday... Forbush has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with 25 straight defeats, while Surry Central will come in with seven straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 91-31, which was the final score in Forbush's tilt against North Surry on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 207th).

Meanwhile, Surry Central didn't have too much trouble with North Wilkes last Monday as they won 64-45.

Surry Central had a senior duo take command as Tripp Mcmillen dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards and Mason Jewell went 9 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with six boards and five assists. Mcmillen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damen Hazelwood, who posted three points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Surry Central pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Forbush, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Forbush took a serious blow against Surry Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 80-36. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Forbush was down 46-17.
