Basketball Recap: Iola Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Iola needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Mosiah Fawson. The Mustangs walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Caney Valley Bullpups on Thursday with plenty of help from Fawson, who went 8-for-10 en route to 21 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 50% field goal percentage.

Reed Clift was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals. He has become a key player for Iola: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-5 otherwise.

Iola picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Caney Valley, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Iola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-45 victory against Wellsville on the 16th. As for Caney Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th.
