Softball Recap: Morton Comes Up Short

Morton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 12-8 to the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Joy Lewis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nylah Laster, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Morton's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Northeast Lauderdale, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. As for Northeast Lauderdale, they will host Starkville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
