Soccer Game Preview: Grossmont vs. El Capitan

Grossmont is 3-0 against El Capitan since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Grossmont Foothillers will host the El Capitan Vaqueros at 7:00 p.m.

Grossmont's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mount Miguel 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Foothillers.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, El Capitan was forced to settle for a draw on Friday. They and El Cajon Valley finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 draw. While a more conclusive result would've been nice, the Vaqueros got plenty of practice considering the match was the highest-scoring draw the team's played all season.

El Capitan's draw gives them a new season record of 5-6-5. As for Grossmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6-2 record this season.

Grossmont was able to grind out a solid win over El Capitan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 3-1. Will Grossmont repeat their success, or does El Capitan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
