The Fairfield Mules will face off against the Richland County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Fairfield came up short against Teutopolis and fell 6-1. The matchup marked the Mules' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fairfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was A Grieve, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jesse King also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Richland County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Mattoon by a score of 8-4 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brody Redman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Richland County let Gavin Root and Cooper Hires run wild. Root went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hires scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Hires a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Puckett, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Richland County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fairfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
