Baseball Recap: Canyon Comanches vs. Yucaipa Thunderbirds
After flying high against Brea Olinda last Thursday, Canyon came back down to earth. The Canyon Comanches fell just short of the Yucaipa Thunderbirds by a score of 10-9 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Canyon of the 11-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.
Christian Tapia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Luke Pico, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Canyon's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-13-1. As for Yucaipa, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10-1 record this season.
