Basketball Recap: Beacon Academy Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Beacon Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 42-19 to the Francis W. Parker Colonels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trailblazers of the 43-16 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2020.

Among those leading the charge was Spencer Dunbar, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Jojo Husbeck, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

Beacon Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Francis W. Parker, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-8.

Beacon Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lycee Francais de Chicago at 5:03 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Both have allowed few points on average, (Lycee Francais de Chicago: 17, Beacon Academy: 27.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Francis W. Parker will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Chicago University at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
