Volleyball Game Preview: Spring Valley Grizzlies vs. Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Spring Valley Grizzlies and the Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Spring Valley not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Las Vegas with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Spring Valley walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-23, 25-23.

Spring Valley can attribute much of their success to Markien Halili, who had 12 digs.

Meanwhile, Somerset Sky Pointe had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Rams as they made off with a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Somerset Sky Pointe was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-10, 25-12.

Somerset Sky Pointe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. As for Spring Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Spring Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Somerset Sky Pointe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Spring Valley couldn't quite get it done against Somerset Sky Pointe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
