Baseball Recap: Maywood CES Gets the Win

Maywood CES won the last time they faced Torres and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolfpack came out on top in a nail-biter against the Toros, sneaking past 4-3. That's two games straight that the Wolfpack have won by just one run.

Aisaiah Monge got the start for Maywood CES and what a start it was: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Monge has posted since back in March. Damien Zazueta relieved him and did a solid job, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Maywood CES is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Torres, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maywood CES will host Maywood Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.63 runs per game on average), something the Wolfpack will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Torres, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marquez at 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
