Softball Recap: South Newton Rebels vs. Tri-County Cavaliers
South Newton had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it four. They lost 14-1 to the Tri-County Cavaliers. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
South Newton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kimber Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Tri-County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-2. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won 17 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Tri-County's side, Madilyn Nevitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tri-County beat South Newton by a score of 17-4 on Monday.
