Recap: Pymatuning Valley Lakers vs. Brookfield Warriors
Even though the Pymatuning Valley Lakers have not done well against the Brookfield Warriors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Pymatuning Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over Brookfield. Winning may never get old, but Pymatuning Valley sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pymatuning Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zoey Painter, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Jolene Sharpe was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marae Craig, who scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailey Wellman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Pymatuning Valley pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Brookfield, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-13.
Pymatuning Valley will take on Jefferson Area at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Brookfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Newton Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Brookfield is ranked 616th, while Newton Falls is ranked 614th).
