Preview: Blooming Grove Lions vs. Scurry-Rosser Wildcats
The Blooming Grove Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Blooming Grove lost to Mildred at home by a decisive 34-19 margin. Blooming Grove gained 77 more yards on the day, but it was Mildred that made the best of use of them.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Noah Hutchison, who threw for 271 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Scurry-Rosser put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Trinity Leadership 49-12 on the road. Given Scurry-Rosser's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while Trinity Leadership is ranked 942nd), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Scurry-Rosser's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but De'shawn Wren led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Scurry-Rosser also got a significant boost from Ralph Miller, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 128 yards.
Scurry-Rosser's victory bumped their season record to 7-0 while Blooming Grove's defeat dropped theirs to 3-3.
Blooming Grove suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Scurry-Rosser in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Blooming Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
