The West Aurora Blackhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Larkin Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in West Aurora's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.

West Aurora's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-0 win over Ridgewood. Given the Blackhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Rebels are ranked 402nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Aurora's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Atkins, who rushed for 98 yards and one score on only five carries, and also threw for 108 yards and a pair of TDs. Atkins' passing game has become a key predictor of the Blackhawks' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Bryce Riley was another key back, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries.

Meanwhile, Larkin lost 43-21 to Elgin on Friday. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Larkin's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West Aurora, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Everything came up roses for West Aurora against Larkin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
