Lakeshore is 8-2 against Portage Northern since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Lakeshore Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Portage Northern Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Lakeshore will be strutting in after a victory while Portage Northern will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lakeshore beat Gull Lake 47-41. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Portage Northern came up short against Kalamazoo Central on Tuesday and fell 61-52. The defeat continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Maroon Giants: they've now lost four in a row.

Lakeshore is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Portage Northern, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Lakeshore took their win against Portage Northern in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 71-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeshore since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
