Volleyball Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Monarch Coyotes
If Mead was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Fairview on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mavericks fell just short of the Monarch Coyotes by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Coyotes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Mead took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 13-25, 25-19, 15-11.
Cailin Hall paced Mead's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hall really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 21. Alana Costello controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Mead moved to 11-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Monarch, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mead will take on rival Broomfield at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Monarch is set to challenge their familiar foe Longmont at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
