Softball Recap: Leopold Gets the Win

After losing to Meadow Heights the last time they met, Leopold decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Leopold blew past Meadow Heights 25-3 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Malia VanderMierden, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two triples. VanderMierden is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Brenna Beussink, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

VanderMierden wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Leopold kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Leopold's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Meadow Heights, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
