Football Recap: South Haven Christian Falls Short Against Ranked Evangel Christian

South Haven Christian is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Evangel Christian. South Haven Christian took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evangel Christian. South Haven Christian has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

When it comes to explaining why South Haven Christian lost, don't look at Kade Atkinson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 201 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Atkinson is now averaging an impressive 105.6 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Jared White, who picked up 60 receiving yards and one TD.

Eli Black continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Evangel Christian, rushing for 186 yards and four scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 191 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes. Black's passing game has become a key predictor of the Lightning's success: the team is 8-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Evangel Christian's leading receiver Ben Davis was Black's top target yet again, picking up 188 receiving yards and one TD.
