Baseball Recap: Wink Comes Up Short

Wink lost against Alpine on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wink Wildcats might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-1 to the Alpine Bucks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cayson Cuellar was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Cuellar wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was CAYTON NOYOLA, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. NOYOLA has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Wink now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Alpine, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Wink will take on Presidio at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Alpine, they will head out to challenge Seagraves at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
