Baseball Recap: Northview Wins Going Away Against Whitmer

Northview barely beat Whitmer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Nick Schantz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colin Tomanski, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Northview is undefeated when Tomanski posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Conner Draper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Northview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win was the third in a row for Northview, bringing their record up to 9-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Whitmer, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
