Recap: Mesabi East Giants vs. Cromwell Cardinals
It was a good run, but the Mesabi East Giants unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Cromwell 51-45. Mesabi East has struggled against Cromwell recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Cromwell can attribute much of their success to Emaleigh Olesiak, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Mya Gronner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Mesabi East's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for Cromwell, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Mesabi East won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Barnum at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Barnum is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Cromwell will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Floodwood at 7:15 p.m. on February 22nd.
