Football Recap: Brush Skates Past Yuma with Ease

Brush won against Wray last Friday with 36 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Beetdiggers blew past the Yuma Outlaws 36-7. While the Beetdiggers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brush had a senior duo take command as Ritchie Bruno rushed for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry and Eric Rico rushed for 75 yards and two TDs on only five carries. Bruno's longest rush was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Brush was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 394 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 311 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Brush's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points over those games. As for Yuma, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brush will take on Arvada at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beetdiggers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Yuma, they will square off against Burlington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
