Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coronado). They claimed a resounding 51-8 win over the Mar Vista Mariners at home. The victory was nothing new for the Islanders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rodolfo Sanchez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 62 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 116 yards on only ten passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August of 2023. Coltyn Dickerson was another key player, rushing for 50 yards and a touchdown.

He was just one part of a punishing run game: Coronado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Coronado now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mar Vista, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coronado will look to defend their home field on Friday against Holtville at 7:00 p.m. Holtville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Coronado likes a good challenge. As for Mar Vista, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on October 10th.
