Softball Recap: Walnut Grove Makes It 19 in a Row at Home

Walnut Grove waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the McKinney North Bulldogs. Considering the Wildcats have won 15 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Berlage was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Penelope Robles, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Walnut Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .633. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Walnut Grove pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for McKinney North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will take on Anna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Coyotes at the right time seeing as the Coyotes are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for McKinney North, they will face off against Melissa at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 27th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
