Boys Lacrosse: Hillers Earn Big Back-to-Back Wins

The Hillers of Tower Hill improved to a 3-2 record with the impressive 7-3 victory over Charter of Wilmington on Thursday. Charter entered Thursday’s match-up with a perfect 5-0 record, and had outscored their opponents 74-11 so far in the season.

Tower Hill seemed unimpressed with Charter’s recent success and went into halftime with a 4-1 lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Tower Hill iced the game by outscoring Charter 3-2 in the fourth quarter resulting in a hard fought 4 point win for the Hillers.

Tower Hill’s Evan DeDominicis led all players in scoring with four goals and two assists.

Charter of Wilmington will look to bounce back in a league game against William Penn on Tuesday.

The Hillers had little time to celebrate their victory over Charter, facing league rival Tatnall on Saturday. Tatnall entered the game with a 2-1 record. The Hornets were looking for redemption after suffering a heartbreaking one-goal loss to St. Andrew’s on Tuesday, resulting in their first loss of the season.

Tower Hill seemed to have Tatnall’s number early on, with goalie Daniel Kluger limiting the Hornets to three goals in the first three quarters. Tatnall made a late charge in the fourth quarter, outscoring Tower Hill 4-2, but it was too little too late. The Hillers held off the Hornets and came away with an 8-7 home field victory that improved the team’s record to 4-2.

Evan DeDominicis led the Hillers with three goals and two assists, while Daniel Kluger finished with 14 saves. Brad Louzeaux led Tatnall with two goals, while Shane Morrell added two assists and a goal. Tatnall goalie Bob Schluter had 13 saves.

Although Tatnall suffered their second-straight, one-goal loss, the Hornets showed some resolve with their fourth quarter comeback. Tatnall will get a chance a avenge Saturday’s loss in a rematch with Tower Hill on May 9th.

Baseball: Dickinson off to Perfect Start

Dickinson knocked off defending state champion St. Mark’s in a 9-4 victory Monday. The win improves the Rams record to 5-0.

Matt Klaczkiewicz pitched all seven innings for Dickinson, earning his second win of the season behind six strikeouts. Klaczkiewicz gave up three runs in the bottom of the fourth to give St. Mark’s a 4-3 lead.

After Dickinson tied the game in the top of the fifth, Klaczkiewicz found himself in trouble in the bottom of that inning. After putting runners on first and second, Klaczkiewicz kept his cool and went on to strike out the side. The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when Dickinson took the lead for good after Tommy Crist hit a bases loaded single resulting in 3 runs scoring on an error.

Dickinson will look to keep their undefeated season intact as they face Pencader in a league game on Tuesday.

Girls Lacrosse: Tower Hill Crushes Cape Henlopen

Tower Hill proved they are the best in the state with a huge 14-3 win over second-ranked Cape Henlopen on Saturday.

The win improves Tower Hill’s record to 5-1, with the team’s only loss coming from out-of-state rival Episcopal Academy (Pa.). The loss puts Cape Henlopen at 5-1, as well.

Meghan Lyons led the Hillers in scoring with four goals, with Caroline Holliday and Van Sickle adding three goals apiece.

Despite a solid effort from Cape goalie Leigh Ann Redefer, Tower Hill’s 28 shots proved to be too much for the Viking defense. Tower Hill limited Cape to only nine shots in the game and walked away with a convincing victory over one of the state’s top teams.

The Hillers will face Archmere on Tuesday, while Cape will match up against Worcester Prep (Md.) on Friday.
