            Softball Recap: Walton-Verona Bearcats vs. Owen County Rebels        
        
		
        
        
            Walton-Verona had lost five straight on the road, but  on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it six. They lost  9-2 to the Owen County Rebels. Having soared to a lofty 12  runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
 Walton-Verona saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Eliza Alford, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
As for Owen County, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 5-6. Considering they have won four matches by more than six  runs this season, Monday's  blowout was nothing new.
On Owen County's side,  Hallie Tirey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on four hits.
 On the hitting side,  Abigayle Dempsey was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lois Kemper, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walton-Verona will head out to  challenge Holmes  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Owen County, they are taking a road trip to  take on Carroll County  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
