Football Game Preview: Brunswick Pirates vs. South Effingham Mustangs + How To Watch

Brunswick has gone 7-1 against South Effingham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Brunswick will be strutting in after a victory while South Effingham will be coming in after a loss.

Brunswick is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Lakeside: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Panthers out of the water with a 60-6 final score. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 25 points or more this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Josiah Gibbons and Nigel Gardner. Gibbons gained 151 total yards and two touchdowns while Gardner rushed for 87 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Gardner has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Moore, who threw for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 18 passes.

The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Brunswick will have to contain Maddox Vasquez as he made an impact in South Effingham's last game. He rushed for 45 yards and two scores.

Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for South Effingham, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Brunswick against South Effingham in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-20 victory. In that contest, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 36-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
