Basketball Recap: Dematha Drops Season-High Score on Our Lady of Good Counsel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeMatha). They put the hurt on the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons with a sharp 87-65 win on Friday. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

DeMatha was led to victory by Ashton (Ace) Meeks and Charles Thomas. Meeks went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points, while Thomas went 9 of 11 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Meeks' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Wallace, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

DeMatha was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

DeMatha is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points over those games. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeMatha will welcome Gonzaga at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against St. John's at 7:30 p.m.
