Baseball Recap: Red Creek Comes Up Short

Red Creek had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it 11. They came up short against the Williamson Marauders, falling 20-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on Thursday.

As for Williamson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Williamson's part, Myles Wurtz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wurtz has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Joey VanLare was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. David DeFisher was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Red Creek has already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Marion on the 10th. As for Williamson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-1 loss against Sodus on the 10th.
