Basketball Recap: Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs vs. Brighton Cardinals
The Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by Brighton on the road and fell 52-3. Raleigh-Egypt lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head last Monday, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 57-35 score last time.
Brighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Da'lyjah Maclin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Maclin pulled down eight or more rebounds. Mariah Maclin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Raleigh-Egypt dropped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Brighton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-16 record this season.
Raleigh-Egypt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brighton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Millington Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
