Soccer Game Preview: Newton South vs. Concord-Carlisle

The Newton South Lions will challenge the Concord-Carlisle Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton South's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Newton South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Framingham, who was ranked fifth at the time (Newton South was ranked 22nd). The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Concord-Carlisle came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Trojans.

Concord-Carlisle's win bumped their record up to 7-3-1. Newton South's draw makes their record 8-2-3 this season.

Newton South was able to grind out a solid victory over Concord-Carlisle when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
