Baseball Recap: Gloucester Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Gloucester fell victim to Lakeland and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Dukes were not able to get on the board.

Gloucester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Simmons, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Gloucester's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Lakeland, their record is now 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gloucester will welcome Bethel at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dukes 3.8, the Bruins 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lakeland, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Deep Creek at 5:45 p.m. The Cavaliers are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
