Basketball Recap: La Veta Takes a Loss

La Veta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-30 bruising from the Cheraw Wolverines. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redhawks of the 71-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, La Veta still got an impressive performance from Isiah Rodriguez, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Blake Vargas, who posted five points.

La Veta's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cheraw, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, La Veta will host Sierra Grande at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheraw will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Holly at 4:00 p.m. on February 20th.
