League recap: Howells-Dodge tops Clarkson/Leigh to extend winning streak

D1 District 2 (8 Man) recap October 29, 2013

Howells-Dodge added to the longest winning streak in D1 District 2 (8 Man) this week by beating Clarkson/Leigh, 42-18. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Jaguars.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic led the league in scoring this week by notching 76 points on Omaha Nation.

Howells-Dodge's dynamic duo of Casey Wisnieski and Ben Kuehn proved to be unstoppable against the Patriots, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wisnieski threw for 45 yards and 1 touchdown and Kuehn had 20 yards receiving. Luke Hegemann helped Howells-Dodge's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.

Dalton Daeges provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Omaha Christian Academy topped Cedar Bluffs. Daeges' favorite target this week was Richard Sweeney, who caught 2 passes for 13 yards.

Clay Hamilton made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles topped the Wildcats. The 6-foot-4 senior recorded 1 fumble and racked up 2 sacks.

Daeges was a force in the backfield as Omaha Christian Academy defeated Cedar Bluffs.

Mitch Egger's team's Maverick Sukstorf and Austin Conklin led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sukstorf has thrown for 875 yards this season, while Conklin has 28 catches for 519 yards. Daeges from Tim Hamilton's team leads the league in rushing with 1,161 yards.

Kuehn of the Mike Speirs' team is only 92 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 108 carries Kuehn has put up 908 yards this year.

The Jaguars are in first place, while Jim Clarkson's team is in third place.

There should be lots of points scored when Howells-Dodge and the Patriots face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Jaguars comes in having scored 340 this season, while Clarkson/Leigh has scored 354. Howells-Dodge scored 42 points last week as it beat the Patriots.
