Recap: Hillcrest Huskies vs. Cottonwood Colts
This season hasn't been kind to the Hillcrest Huskies, who are still winless after their 14th match. They were outmatched by Cottonwood at home and fell 66-14. Hillcrest has struggled against Cottonwood recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Emily Mandel was Hillcrest's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cottonwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carley Caton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Avea Van der beek was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Hillcrest's loss was their 13th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.9 points per game. As for Cottonwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.
Hillcrest will head out on the road to face off against Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Cottonwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stansbury is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
