The Middleton Vikings will square off against the Capital Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Middleton's win against Borah wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Not much got past Kellen Viehweg, who gave up just eight hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Borah off the board. Viehweg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Middleton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Collins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Capital and Meridian, and Capital kept the tradition alive. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Warriors on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Caden Werner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Capital is undefeated when Werner allows one or fewer hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Werner was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Preston Christianson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cooper Myers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Middleton's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Capital, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Capital's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Middleton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. It's a different story for Capital, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Middleton's hitters?
Middleton was able to grind out a solid win over Capital in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-6. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
