Basketball Recap: Wheatland Takes a Loss

Wheatland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Marysville Indians and fell 77-34. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1160th, while the Indians are ranked 327th).

Marysville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Brooks led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played. Chevy Cadena was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Wheatland's loss dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Marysville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.

Wheatland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marysville, they will be playing at home against Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marysville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Dixon likes a good challenge.
