Baseball Recap: Hanson Memorial Wins Going Away Against Centerville

Hanson Memorial barely beat Centerville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hanson Memorial blew past Centerville 14-7 on Tuesday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Ethan Clements and Trey Rochel did most of the damage at the plate: Clements scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Rochel scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Hanson Memorial is 4-1 when Rochel posts two or more runs, but 5-7-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Loren Wells, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Hanson Memorial's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.67 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Centerville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-3 record this season.

Hanson Memorial will head out to challenge Ascension Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Ascension Episcopal has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Centerville, they will face off against West St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
